Applications for the Horsemanship for the Thoroughbred Industry QQI Level Five Major Award at the Racing Academy & Centre of Education (RACE) are now open, Equuip announced on Friday. The QQI Level Five Major Award is delivered on a part-time basis via evening classes. The full award is made up of eight modules, including Communications, Equine Anatomy and Physiology, Equine Nutrition, Horse Breeding, Racehorse Care and Exercise, Stable and Yard Routine, and Work Experience. Progress has been made on EU animal transport regulations, the European Federation of Thoroughbred Breeders' Associations (EFTBA) announced on Friday. The initial drafts of the proposed Welfare in Transport Regulation had the potential to create significant challenges for the thoroughbred breeding sector, however the EFTBA was informed this week that revised wording has been incorporated into the draft legislation.
